I'm hindu and our marriage was not registered. now I'm living seperatly. do i still need divorce for official purposes such as apply for vissa or avoid further harasment from my spouse?

You have to get an separation order from the court. Hindu Marriage registration is not necessary to prove the marriage. If hinu marriage ceremony is done then for separation you need a court order.
