Hello, I am engaged to marry a man from Bangladesh. I am a citizen of the USA. We want to get married in Dhaka soon. Is there a way to marry without the unmarried certificate from USA? I am recently divorced and recently converted to Islam. Getting the unmarried form will take a lot of extra time. Can I swear that I am free to marry under oath with a notary at the time of the marriage in Bangladesh? Will I need documentation of my recent conversion? Thank you for your reply.

Answer: You can swear an affidavit of single status mentioning previous divorce and notary the same in Bangladesh.
Q.Will I need documentation of my recent conversion?
Answer: Yes. If you don't have any document you have to make an affidavit here in Bangladesh. It's not necessary to change name when you convert. But if you have changed your name then affidavit or other documents is necessary.
